Student absence

If your child is absent from school, it is necessary to telephone the school in the morning on the student absences phone line (07) 3552 6370. A letter of explanation covering the absence is also required when the child resumes school.

Arrival at school

Parents are responsible for their children before the start of the school until the first bell at 8.45am.

Outside school hours care is run by Helping Hands. They operate from 6.30am daily. The centre offers an excellent service to parents and we request all community members respect this role and stay away from designated areas controlled by Helping Hands. Children arriving before 8am should use this service. Children arriving between 8am and 8.45am must remain in the undercover area.

Dress code

All students are expected to wear the full school uniform daily.

School hats must be worn at all times outside of the classroom. All hair that falls over the collar should be tied back to help minimise the spread of head lice. Sun shirts and swimming caps must be worn for all swimming lessons and activities.

If a child cannot wear the proper school uniform for the day or for a particular activity, parents are requested to inform the school in writing or via email.

Behaviour management

Our school maintains a belief that promoting a strong school culture, focusing on individuals accepting responsibility for their own behaviours and learning is more beneficial than a reactive behavioural program. Our sense of community and belonging are key drivers in shaping our high expectations and our culture of excellence.

Stafford State School is committed to developing a positive school culture, one in which students, parents and staff feel they are part of a safe and welcoming school community.

Our school culture is based on four school rules:

  • Safety.
  • Effort.
  • Respect.
  • Responsibility.

These school rules are the foundation of our school culture and are embedded within a variety of proactive programs that assist and enable all members of our school community to accept responsibility for their actions.

These programs, coupled with a wide variety of strategies and reward systems developed by individual teachers and their own class, ensure Stafford State School is a safe and supportive environment in which to learn, work or visit.
